Purpose:

1.
To obtain contact and program information from national organizations and share that information with our committee chairpersons, enabling them to leverage off of what already exists and work as effectively as possible.

2
. To create a network within the Queens-wide community of organizations representing all denominations, to plan activities that are most effective on a community-wide rather than synagogue-wide basis, and to assist other synagogues in setting up their own Israel Action committees.

3. To contact, correspond and share with other geographic communities that have active Israel Action committees.

To educate our Youth about the past and present of Israel. To instill a love and appreciation for our homeland

Current and Recent Accomlishments:

1
. More than 2 dozen national organizations with political, educational, media, or social programs in Israel were contacted to learn about their ongoing programs.  The information was shared with appropriate committee chairs.

2. Organized a joint meeting of the YIJE and the Queens Jewish Committee Council which took place in our shul on April 28th.  It was attended by over 50 people representing 24 different Queens synagogues and organizations.  This established the basis for ongoing multi-organizational coordination of efforts and involvement.

Current Activities:

1.
Follow up with each shul and organization who attended the April 28th meeting, encouraging them to implement their own Israel Action programs, and gleaning information from those who already have them.

2. For those who need assistance getting started, suggesting first steps of post card program, joining our Israel bond drive, formulating email and contact lists for their own shuls, and getting involved with media and political response activities, either by collaborating with us or tapping into national organizations, or both.
