Organized
by the Conference of Presidents
of Major American Jewish Organizations
co-sponsored by the Congress of
Presidents and United Jewish Communities
A mass rally in solidarity with Israel and in support of the war
against terrorism took place at the Capitol in Washington
DC. Under the theme We
Stand With
Israel, over 250,000 Jews and non-Jews from
across the country joined in standing with Israel as it defends
its citizens in the wake of more than 12,000 terror attacks over
the last 18 months. We expressed our support for the United
States and Israel in the global battle against terrorism. Organizations,
synagogues, schools and other groups are joined in sponsoring
this major gathering in our nation’s capital.
Thanks
you all !

Our message
- Americans, Jews and non-Jews alike stand in solidarity
with the State and people of Israel at this critical time.
- America and Israel are leading the fight against
terrorism and are standing up for democratic values.
September 11 and the repeated atrocities committed against
Israel demonstrate that all of us are at risk if we don't defeat
the global terror network.
- Israel has a fundamental right of self-defense in the
face of daily killing of innocents and more than 12,000 terror
attacks in the past 18 months.
- The Arab world must strongly condemn the targeting of
civilians. No
alleged grievance can justify intentionally blowing up men,
women and children in restaurants, in shopping malls and on
public buses.
- Despite calls by the international community and in
violation of previously signed agreements, Yasir Arafat has
failed to stop terrorists operating from territory under his
jurisdiction. Indeed, organizations directly under his
control, such as the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, have become the
principal agents of violence against Israel. Israel was
left with no choice but to take the steps necessary to protect
itself from the terrorist infrastructure sheltered and supported
by the Palestinian Authority.
- Having experienced our own national tragedy on
September 11, we Americans understand Israel's pain as never
before and know there can be only one option: together with
allies like Israel we must win the war against terrorism.
- We know that Israel - its leaders and its people –
want peace and are prepared to make painful compromises to
achieve it. We saw this at Camp David in July 2000.
Israel is not the obstacle to peace. The essential problem
lies with the leaders of the Palestinians and those Arab states
that still deny Israel's legitimacy as a Jewish state; that
still support and engage in terrorism (the Foreign Ministers of
the Arab League only two weeks ago refused to identify suicide
bombings against Israel as terrorism.)
- This is a time to stand unequivocally behind the
principles shared by America and Israel - fight terrorism with
determination; respect democratic values; and seek peace through
negotiations, not violence.
- Peace cannot come while murderers are glorified, while
the media, textbooks, and religious leaders espouse violence and
hate, while political leaders incite and justify terrorism.
